How to find us at Woodbridge
For satnav users, enter IP12 1BD or grid reference 52 05.554'N 001 19.438'E as your destination. Woodbridge is on the Deben estuary just off the A12 close to where it crosses the A14 south of Ipswich.
Googlemap image can be seen here
Coming into Woodbridge from the A14 direction, follow the Ipswich road around the southern part of town. You will pass the Station and Cinema on your right. Continue through traffic lights until you reach a sharp left bend where Quayside becomes Lime Kiln Quay road and turn right into Deben road, cross the small level crossing (Classic Marine on left) and continue down rough road, past cottages and Robertsons Boatyard on the left.
Congratulations, you have arrived but there are two parking choices. Easiest is to continue straight along the track (Swirly cottage on right) with hedges either side to parking area at the end. Walk over the flood wall wooden steps (sign berthholders only) and straight down the jetty where you will find Esme about midway down on the left. Walk across the boarding ramp (stay in the middle) and come and bang on the wheelhouse door.
A couple of notes.
- The road into the yard is very rough and potholy so drive slowly. If you have a very fancy car and prefer not to muddy your low-profile tyres, you can leave the car just through the level crossing on the right or use the public car park before the level crossing. It's only a 2 minute walk to the jetty.
-
High Spring tides can bring the water level over the jetty and generally leave the path and bank muddy so please bring boots or strong flat shoes.
